Recently, a Parasite outbreak occurred which has made hundreds of people ill. As per reports, The Illinois and Iowa health departments are responsible for the investigation of this. According to officials the outbreak of a parasite which causes the intestinal illness could be linked to McDonald’s salad.

 

 

How many cases have been reported like this?

Illinois reported as much as 90 cases since mid-May. Iowa also said 15 instances since late June.

What do the parasites do?

As per reports, the parasites cause intestinal illness. Which said by the experts, is because of consumption of contaminated food or water. However, the symptoms are not instant, it could take up to a week. Die to which it becomes hard to pinpoint exactly what has been the cause.

What are the symptoms of this parasite?

As per experts, the symptoms can include diarrhea and frequent, sometimes explosive bowel movements. Loss of appetite, stomach cramps or pain, gas, and fatigue. Vomiting, fever, body aches and flu-like symptoms.

How long can the illness stay?

As per reports, the illness can stay up to few days or few months. Also, the patient can be treated with antibiotics.

 

 

What does the official say?

In a statement, officials said “The initial investigation indicates a link to consumption of McDonald’s salads produced for McDonald’s restaurants. Approximately one-fourth of Illinois cases reported eating salads from McDonald’s in the days before they became ill,”

They are asking everyone if they had eaten McDonald’s salad around mid may. Also to those who are experiencing the symptoms but haven’t reported. They asked to suck people to see the doc and receive treatment.

What does McDonald’s say?

As per reports, McDonald’s has been co-operating with the officials. In a statement McDonald’s said, “Out of an abundance of caution, we decided to voluntarily stop selling salads at impacted restaurants until we can switch to another lettuce blend supplier,”.

 

 

So basically, McDonald’s is not only proving all the information in the incident. However, also is all set to change the supplier for its restaurant all over the states, which is around 3000 in total number. Also, the current salads have been ripped off from the menu.
