Does ‘Healthy Obesity’ Also Increases Death Risk Like Obesity?

So far many people have debated that “healthy obesity.” Which means obesity free from a disease like diabetes, hypertension, or high cholesterol. Does put a person at risk for another illness in the long run.

What do experts say?

Well, as per experts. According to a recent study which was held just a month ago. It suggested that healthy obesity does indeed put some people at risk for the disease. This was reported on Medical News Today.  However, another question which is asked by a team of researchers from York University in Toronto, Canada, and the University of South Carolina in Columbia. They wondered what about premature death risk?

Well, according to their study. Which they did after analyzing health-related data of 54,089 participants. They found out that the healthy obesity alone doesn’t increase the risk of premature death. On the other hand obesity with a disease like diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension does increase the risk.

What do experts suggest?

Though as per reports, one out of twenty people. Who have obesity doesn’t get any disease like diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension. Anyone who has a BMI of 30 or more is diagnosed with excessive body fat health problems. However, anyone who hits this mark, whether healthy obesity or not. They are always advised for losing weight. Which on its own include advice on healthy eating habits.

Though, a person with a high BMI than 30 who don’t have any metabolic risk factor. Has same premature death risk as an average person. What questions indeed arises is whether these people can get those risks later on or not.

However, Kuk who is leading this study said, “We’re showing that individuals with metabolically healthy obesity are not at an elevated mortality rate,” says Kuk. “We found that a person of normal weight with no other metabolic risk factors is just as likely to die as the person with obesity and no other risk factors,”.

Which apparently means that a person with excessive body fat health problems.  However, still, so many people are told to lose weight just because of high BMI. Which says it’s uncertain that people like them would benefit from weight loss or not.
