Psychedelics Transform Mental Health?

Psychedelics drugs are closely related with the hippies and the counterculture of the people of 1960s. But this might soon change. Psychedelics which includes mescaline and DMT, so now the scientists are looking that Psychedelics might have the chance of fighting against the mental healing.

Some studies are conducted to test the potential of the Psychedelics drug. On the basis of these studies, it was found that it also helps to prevent many health disorders like depression, addiction, post-traumatic stress. Psychedelics avoid all the above complications where the other treatments have failed.

The UK researchers conducted a recent study, their focus of research is to found out whether the drug is more effective than preventing depression.

Researchers from the imperial college London conducts the trail. For the study researchers compared the magic mushroom compound with the leading serotonin reuptake inhibitors. The trial was expected to take at least for the two years.

Dr. Robin Carhart Harris Statement

Dr. Robin Carhart Harris who leads the study said, “Psychedelics have revolutionary potential, and that’s not an exaggeration.”
The shocking part is that it is not the first time when the scientists are excited about the Psychedelics. About more than 50 years ago the scientists were working on the same study.

In the 1950s – 1960s Psychedelics was used to prevent numerous mental health conditions like depression and many more. More than 1000 studies were conducted on the practical use of the Psychedelics.

Apart from all the studies very soon the drugs become controversial. Musicians and other artists use recreational use of Psychedelics and LSD.

Press coverage of the drugs often focused more on bad trips and the supposed moral degeneracy. Rather than using the drugs in the scientific and medical development. Growing use of Psychedelics in the bad trips pressurize the US government to take some decisions regarding it. Finally, it was declared illegal in the US in 1968.

With appropriate government approval, scientists again carry their studies, for the survey many scientists turned their attention to the magic mushroom compound psilocybin, the shocking part about this compound is it is similar to LSD but without much controversy as compared to the LSD.
