India is celebrating its 70th republic day today, each year on January 26 the Indian government celebrates with great dedication. During the 26th of January the President’s bodyguard, a cavalry unit with 200 strong men that are draped in red coats, turbans, and golden sashes are escorting the president to the stage of the Republic Day parade, he will then give an order to start the national anthem. The Republic Day of India will be attended by renowned world leaders and will be live streamed to almost every household that has a TV.  The parade will showcase India’s militaries power.

The President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa is the chief guest in the 70th Republic Day Parade.

Folk dances are set to be showcased on the 70th Republic Day, that includes those from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Arunachal Pradesh, this will be done to educate and bring life to the audience during the parade.

The massacre of Jallianwala Bagh that took place on April 13, 1919, is the theme of the official tableau of the State of Punjab during the parade in New Delhi. This is the 3rd time in 3 years that Punjab’s tableau is being shown in the Republic Day Parade.

The 70th parade will also show a stunning exhibition of the Nari Shakti, that is going to be led by the Assam Rifles Contingent, a strong and daring woman will also be seen doing bike stunts on the Rajpath this is a part of the daredevil team. Women officers will lead the contingents of the navy and army.

4 INA (Indian National Army Veterans) that are over 90-years-old will also be present during the Republic Day Parade, Major General Punia said: “These veterans are aged between 90-100 years. INA soldiers had links with the British Indian Army, so they also have links with our legacy,”

The Indian army will showcase the M777 American artillery gun during the parade. They will also display the MBT (Main Battle Tank) T-90. Lastly, the Akash weapon system that is made in India will be showcased during the parade.
