Hyderabad, India: A 25-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was arrested by the Hyderabad Police for raping a 16-year-old girl, the authorities announced on Wednesday.

It is said that the 25-year-old driver had been harassing the 16-year-old girl by giving the girl his phone number.

The man reportedly barged into the house of her uncle, where she lives, and raped the 16-year-old.

The police said the girl was alone in the house of her uncle when the incident happened.

The identity and other details of the incident were not shared with the public due to the fact that the girl is only 16 years old.

A police complaint against the 25-year-old rickshaw driver was registered under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

An official investigation has been launched, said an official.
