3 lakh flowers were used to decorate the floral tableau of Mahatma Gandhi, the flowers that were used in the tableau included marigolds, jasmines, and roses, the tableau showcased the freedom struggles of Mahatma Gandhi.

The CPWD showcased the tableau to go with this year’s theme, which is the 150th birth anniversary of India’s freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi.

The tableau showed and promoted the message of Mahatma Gandhi, which is world peace and unity. It also showed the Dandi March and his non-violent followers.

The CPWD Said: “Different variety of flowers, foliage, ground covers were used for the tableau. Around 3 lakh natural flowers were fixed up by nearly 400 skilled workers hired by the CPWD.”

The CPWD official said that they started to work on it on January 25, and got completed by 1 am on the next day. They did this so that the flowers would stay fresh.

It has been a tradition in the CPWD, that every year they showcase a floral tableau during the Republic Day Parade.

Different aspects of the life journey of Mahatma Gandhi was shown in the 22 tableaux that fascinated the crowd present in the 90-minute Parade, this marked the 150th birth anniversary of the father of the nation.

16 tableaux were from the Union and state territories, 6 were from central ministries and departments, agriculture, power, drinking water and sanitation, Indian Railways, CISF and CPWD.
