Akshaya Tritiya 2017: Akha Teej Puja Vidhi, Tithi and Timings

Hindus celebrate Akshaya Tritiya every year on the third day of Vaisakha Month of Hindu calendar. This Akshaya Tritiya is also called as Akha Teej. This year Akshaya Tritiya falls on April 28th, Friday. This day is treated as a great occasion in Hindu Community because of its significance. It is a very sentimental day for many people to start their important steps towards their bright future.

Akshaya Tritiya is believed as a day that Lord Kubera got his treasure and lost fortune back. Many of us know Lord Krishna has a very good friend Sudama who is blessed with an abundance of wealth on this day by Krishna. We treat food as a god and do not waste food at any cost and many people who are in need will worship Maa Annapurna to provide them sufficient food. Maa Annapurna was also born on this day.

Akshaya Tritiya Puja Timings:

As we all know Mahabharat the great epic is written by Veda Vyasa also started to pen on this day. The Puja of Akshaya Trithiya is performed according to the tithi timings that day. This year on April 28th the tithi is beginning from 10.29 AM and ends at 6.55 AM on the following day. So people are advised to perform puja from 10.29 AM to 12.36 PM by Drikpanchang.com

Not just like the normal puja but there few things to follow on this special day.

Akshaya Tritiya Puja Vidhi:

  • Prayers can be offered to Lord Vishnu and his consort Lakshmi or Kuber.
  • Take a flat wooden platform and on it place a yellow or red cloth.
  • On that cloth put an idol of lord Narayana and Lakshmi and Kuber. The idol of Lakshmi should be placed left to Vishnu`s idol and right of kuber. If you cannot find the idols you may use the images.

  • In front of the idols light a lamp in Silver, brass with ghee or oil.
  • You can perform puja and invite the god and goddess to accept your offering.
  • After the puja is done you can offer a banana, coconut, paan-supari, sweets and water to gods.
  • Finally, perform Aarti by ringing the bell and conclude the puja.
