The Indian Institutes of Management released notification for the Common Admission Test 2015 (CAT 2016). All the candidates who are looking for the admissions into various management programmes of IIMs can apply for the CAT 2016. IIM CAT 2016 Official Notification:
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer-based test held in India. This test scores a person on the basis of quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs. The test is conducted every year by one of the IIM’s based on a policy of rotation. In August 2011, it was announced that Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) would also use the CAT scores, instead of the Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET), to select students for their management programmes from the 2012-14 year.

Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (It may also be referred to as Persons With Disability (PWD) categories], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions.
Application fee:
The fee for General category candidates is Rs 1,700 and for SC, ST and PWD categories, it is Rs 850.
Note:
Candidate needs to pay registration fees only once irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for. SC, ST and PWD (DA) candidates must upload a copy of their SC/ST/PWD (DA) certificates at the time of registration. Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstance.
Exam centers:
The test will be held in 135 cities across the country. The candidates will be given a preference of 4 cities for the exam venue.
Examination Pattern:
The exam will be conducted in two slots on the same day i.e; December 4, 2016. It is the Computer based test. The duration of the test would be 2 hours and 50 minutes. The test consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ’s). For each correct answer, the candidate would be given 3 points and negative marking would be done for wrong answers. If any question is left unanswered, no marks would be deducted. It mainly tests the English, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning.
