Pakistani Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Gets a Notice From the Enforcement Directorate
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan the popular singer from Pakistan has been issued a notice by the ED (Enforcement Directorate) today. The notice is about his alleged foreign exchange violation.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been suspected of foreign exchange violation for Rs. 2 Crores. The Pakistani singer has 45 days to reply to the Enforcement Directorate.
This case goes back to the year 2014 when the Enforcement Directorate started an investigation against him for violating the FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act).
Back in 2011, the singer was caught by the officials when he was carrying an undeclared amount of 125 thousand USD, he was caught by the officials of the DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) in the Delhi airport.
In his defense, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said that he was carrying 125 thousand USD because he was traveling along with his singing group.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the nephew of the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, A Sufi, and a Quwali Singer. He debuted his career as a playback singer in the “Movie Paap” back in the year 2003. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is also a judge in a couple of Indian Reality Shows.
