Personal Details Of 120 Million JIO Users Gets Leaked Online, Telecom Authority Denies This Leak And Claims Data Safe!

Reliance JIO has undoubtedly brought the telecom revolution in India. With various amusing offers and utmost nil charges, this network has been successfully winning people’s hearts. But something finally stained the image of the brand, the security issues.

With the advent of astounding technology, security has become the toughest task to be accomplished. Unfortunately, Jio has become the scapegoat of the same issue.  It is believed that over 120 million mobile numbers with personal details are rolling on some random website, revealing the whole of personal information of the users.

With such a huge number of details exposed, this is so far India’s biggest breach in history. The incident was first spotted by FoneArena.com, claiming that the critical data of about 120 million Reliance Jio customers are seemingly exposed for everyone to see.

Meanwhile, at the time of filing this story, just about any Jio user’s data is visible on a website called magicapk. It does appear though that primarily data of old Jio customers could be vulnerable.

According to the sources, the site just has a search box and all you have to do is, just entering the JIO number, and that’s it, there you go with every personal detail exposed.

Sources claimed that the number purchased on July 2, 2017, was entered and the activation date, circle, and name of customer showed up. The Aadhar and email numbers were blank for this number, though Fonearena has put out at least three numbers for which Aadhaar and emails were available on the page.

Later, around 11.40 pm, with more queries coming in, the site seemed to have gone offline. It is unclear whether it crashed or was suspended by authorities itself.

However, when asked about the issue, a Reliance spokesperson was quoted saying:

“We want to assure our subscribers that their data is safe and maintained with the highest security. Data is only shared with authorities as per their requirement. We have informed law enforcement agencies about the claims of the website and will follow through to ensure strict action is taken.”

Post this, the details claimed that the site was registered with domain retailer godaddy.com on May 18, 2017, and further details aren’t available.
