News, Hyderabad: In a Bizarre incident, a pregnant dog was killed by acid attack and three other dogs died of poisoning in Yapral, Secunderabad on Friday according to a Hyderabad resident.

After the incident of three puppies burnt alive, this attack on the four dogs is the third incident of animal cruelty in Hyderabad in less than two weeks.

According to the Reports, Annamma Joseph, who has been feeding the dogs on a regular basis, noticed that they were crying in pain when she returned home in the evening.

One of the dogs, which was pregnant and had acid thrown on its face, was rescued by Archana and Hari of Bhairav Camps but has since succumbed to injuries and died.The other dogs who are suspected to have been poisoned were taken in by Blue Cross of Hyderabad.

A FIR has been registered by Annamma Joseph at the Jawahar Nagar police station. The police have ordered for a postmortem examination of the dogs.

Humane Society International/India is offering a reward of up to 50,000 INR for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the persons involved for throwing acid on a pregnant dog and poisoning 3 dogs in Yapral, Secunderabad.

“It would only take an ill mind to torture harmless dogs to such an extent. At least one case of animal cruelty is reported every single week and the way the crime is committed leaves us aghast. This only proves that an immediate increase in penalties against animal cruelty is absolutely necessary. We encourage anyone who has information in this case to come forward. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential,” told N.G Jayasimha, managing director of HSI/India.
