This Is The Amount Of Food You Get In An Indian Prison!!

We will all agree that Life in a prison is lonely and have you ever wondered how the food is in the prison? Well here’s a guy who was framed in a case and spent a few days in the prison and he revealed the following about the prison food. He was on remand in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh and he revealed that staying in custody was on the best things in his life. Talking about the menu of the food he said,

The menu from Monday to Saturday is:

Breakfast – Pulihora / Tamarind Rice, every day, served at around 6:30 am
Lunch – Rice, Watery Sambar with no vegetables in it. A different type of curry every day. Served at around 11:30 am.
Dinner – Freshly cooked rice with rasam. Leftover sambar from lunch. One egg for long timers. Served at around 5:00 pm.
On Sunday:

200 gm of mutton (goat) or chicken curry. Very very well made. The curry is weighed so that everyone gets a fair and equal amount and no fights break out. The curry is so good that the policemen would dine with us.

The vegetarians would get a special curry on Sunday. They would be served first. Veg and Non-Veg people would be served at different times to ensure that no one ate both the veg and non-veg curry.

Other than the chicken/mutton curry and the eggs, there were unlimited servings of everything.

The food is fair if not completely monotonous. There were a number of people who kindly shared their pickles with me. I was not an exception, almost everyone shared what they got from their visitors – pickles, biscuits, fruits etc.

Disclaimer: This might not be the case in every Jail.

He continued saying that “visit the inmates as frequently as possible” because it’s lonely inside though you have fellow inmates with you and also asked him to bring them food in large quantities as 50% of the food is snatched by the police and the rest of them reaches. He also advised giving the inmates, soap, toothpaste as some of their family members can’t afford to visit them as frequently.

Well all through the dark life in the jail cell, it depends on the person to either transform himself into a bright new person. Jails also give chance to the inmates to work and earn money.
