Video Shows English Teacher In UP Failing To Read A Sentence From English Book During Surprise Visit From District Magistrate

In what many are calling a scenario in most public schools in India, a teacher in Uttar Pradesh failed to read a few lines from a textbook during a surprise inspection by the District Magistrate at a government school in Unnao District.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

In the video, the District Magistrate can be heard asking the teacher to read out a few lines in English.

After failing to read simple sentences in the textbook, the District Magistrate released a statement about it.

Devendra Kumar Pandey, a district magistrate, said, “She should be suspended immediately. She is an English teacher and she can’t even read English properly.”

The teacher mumbles in the video and tries to explain why it happened.

Pandey, in anger, cuts her and says, “So what? You’re BA pass, aren’t you? I did not even ask you to translate, all I asked for was that you read a few lines in English from the textbook…and you couldn’t do that.”

Pandey was at the school as part of a surprise visit and checking.

During his visit to the school, which is located in the Sikandarpur Sarausi area of Unnao district, Pandey asked students to read something from their English book, but when they had a hard time, he asked the teacher to read the same line.

The teacher failed to do what the magistrate asked.

The District Magistrate has directed the BSA (Basic Shiksha Adhikari) to suspend the teacher.

Pradeep Kumar Pandey, the BSA of Unnao, said action will be taken against the teacher after the District Magistrate will submit a report about the incident.
