A woman police constable was attacked by 4 men with acid after she rejected a marriage proposal.

Officials said that the incident happened on Thursday morning when the constable was on her way to her duty in Mathura.

The woman constable was living at a rented home in Damodar Pura, Mathura, she left her house by 4:30 AM on Thursday.

The constable was rushed to a hospital with 40 percent of burn injuries. She was shifted to the MN Medical College in Agra afterward.

SSP Anirudh Pankaj said that Sanjay Singh wanted to marry the police constable.

The incident happened after the lady constable rejected the marriage proposal of Sanjay.

SSP Anirudh Pankaj said that 2 out of the 4 men have been identified.

A search operation for Sanjay Singh, Sonu Singh, and their companions have been launched.
