The Bollywood biggies have made mistakes in their past by refusing some interesting roles which have now grown to be very popular and iconic. We bring top ten major blunders of these celebrities who had refused such roles.

Kareena Kapoor Khan – Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Goliyon ki rasleela Ram Leela

Kareena Kapoor was looking for more serious film as her debut, which was a woman centric rather than an all and all-commercial movie. Well Kareena Kapoor Khan did go for shoot on the sets of Kaho Na Pyaar Hai for few days but finally backed out once she realized that the role is more focused on the male lead. Ameesha Patel was later signed as the female lead and the film was a super hit.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s original choice for the female lead was Kareena Kapoor. But later on Aishwarya Rai was selected for the role instead of her. Kareena Kapoor also replaced Aishwarya Rai in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’.
Kareena Kapoor has always showed her willingness to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. When she was offered Ram Leela for the role of Leela she had to turn it down because she was committed to Madhur Bhandarkar for Heroine. Later on Deepika Padukone was signed for the role.

Kangna Ranaut- The Dirty Picture

Firstly Kangna Ranaut was the first choice for Silk Smitha’s role in Dirty Picture. When Kangna was offered the role she felt that it did not match up to her standard and she refused it. Well the role went to Vidya Balan and the rest as you all know it was a big hit in  Vidya Balan history.

Katrina Kaif – Barfi

Originally, Anurag Basu offered Katrina Kaif the role played by Ileana D’Cruz with Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. However the Barbie Doll of Bollywood did not seem too keen in sharing her screen with Priyanka and so she turned down the offer. The film became a huge hit. Katrina missed one super hit.

Salman Khan- Baazigar

One of the landmark movie of Shah Rukh Khan’s career was originally offered to Salman Khan. The Dabangg Khan refused the movie because he was the lover boy of the Bollywood and he was not at all keen in taking up negative role. Shah Rukh Khan took up the role sportingly and made it one of the best films in Bollywood and his career. Salman was also offered ‘Chak De’ which he refused and incidentally Shah Rukh was roped in. This way Salman Khan missed two biggest blockbusters. If he was the main role he had the two more movies for his fans that time.

Kajol- 3 idiots

Kajol was offered Kareena’s role in 3 Idiots opposite Aamir Khan. However Kajol was not at all happy with the role. Later on Kareena bagged the film and it was a huge hit. As Kajol was more in glamours role she may be not interested in these kind of movies and lost one of the best movies in her career. because of Kajol loosing Kareena garbed the best opportunity and the movie rocked.

Ranbir Kapoor – ‘Besharam’

What was Ranbir Kapoor thinking, seriously? His career was shooting skywards since his award-winning debut in ‘Saawariyan’, and he had become Bollywood’s sweetheart in six years. After winners like ‘Barfi!’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ – little did his fans expect him to go crashing down with a nonsensical excuse for a movie like ‘Besharam’. 

Shah Rukh Khan – Munna Bhai MBBS

Munna Bhai MBBS Munna Bhai MBBS was first offered to Shah Rukh Khan. However he did not do the movie and it proved to be a really lucky film for Sanjay Dutt. This role landed him in better position as an actor. If this was Shah Rukh Khan movie he would have one more best film in his records.

Shah Rukh Khan, it is not ‘Chennai Express’. We are talking about almost 20 years ago when he was well on his way to become the superstar he now is, and decided to go ahead and do a movie like ‘Zamaana Deewana’ in 1995. The guy was on a streak before that – with ‘Baazigar’, ‘Darr’, ‘Kabhi Haa Kabhi Naa’, ‘Anjaam’ and ‘Karan Arjun’. Very forgettable and better forgotten, SRK reclaimed his glory with ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ after a couple of more duds. 

Hrithik Roshan – Dil Chahta Hai

When the role of Aamir Khan was written for the movie Dil Chahta Hai, it was Hrithik Roshan who was kept in mind for it. However later on things did not work out and Aamir Khan was signed for the film. This film was a huge hit and Aamir Khan’s role also became very popular.

Aamir Khan – Darr

Aamir Khan was first considered for the role of psychotic lover but he refused it since he was unhappy with the role and they way it was developing. Shah Rukh Khan replaced him and added this movie in his kitty making it one of the most iconic negative roles.
