A 20-year-old man from California is lucky to be alive after he drove his car over the side of a parking garage from the top level.

The incident reportedly happened at around 12 am Sunday.

At 12 am on Sunday, the Santa Monica Police responded to a call about a vehicle that fell off the side of a multi-level parking garage.

According to the Santa Monica Daily Press, the vehicle drove off the sixth floor of the building.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered an adult male that was extremely conscious but was in critical condition as he was still inside the vehicle.

Officials said the man was able to speak with the first responders.

The driver was rushed to the hospital.

The police officers are trying to determine if alcohol or drugs were part of the crash.

The Santa Monica Police obtained a warrant for the driver’s blood.

Investigators also found out that 2 people were with the driver just before the crash.

The 2 people were not in the car when it fell down.

The driver of the vehicle is currently in the hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.

The police said an official investigation has been launched.
