Yuhui, an 18-year-old male chimpanzee at a zoo in China, was caught on cam cleaning a white T-shirt with a brush and a bar of soap for nearly 30 minutes.

A video that was shared by the Lehe Ledu Theme Park in Chongqing, South-Western China, showed the 18-year-old chimpanzee picking up the brush and the soap after checking his sibling.

Yuhui was then seen soaping up the brush as his sister watched him.

After getting enough foam on the clothing and on his hands, Yuhui puts the white t-shirt back to the water to rinse it.

Yuhui was also seen wringing it and laying it on the edge of the boulder before he repeated the process again and again.

Yuuhui was caught washing the t-shirt on Friday.

According to the zoo, Yuhui washed the white t-shirt for nearly 30 minutes as his keeper was preparing food for him and his sister.

Xu, the zookeeper, noticed Yuhui watching her when she was washing her clothes in a basin.

Xu said the chimpanzee was watching her curiously.

Xu decided to leave a t-shirt, soap, and a brush beside a small pool of water in the enclosure of Yuhui so she can see what the chimpanzee would do.

Talking about the incident, Xu, the zookeeper, said, “I never intended to teach him, but he watched me nonstop so I wondered if he would do it on his own.”

Amazingly, Yuhui did exactly what a human would do when washing clothes.

In case you’re wondering why this was possible, chimpanzees share 99 percent of DNA with human beings, which makes them our closest living relatives on earth.

A study that was conducted last year revealed that chimpanzees have cleaner beds than humans.

Apes build hygienic tree nests out of fresh tree branches and leaves every single night.

Not only that, but the study also revealed that they contain fewer dirty bacteria shed by the skin than the unchanged sheets of their human relatives.

It only found around a handful of fleas and lice.
