Female Bald Eagle Dies Due To Having So Much Lead In Her System

A bald eagle in Wisconsin died after having too much lead in her system.

According to reports, the bald eagle had too much lead in her system that she could barely even lift her head up.

The bald eagle was rescued by the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Wisconsin 3 weeks ago.

The rescuers found the bald eagle lying face down because she had no strength in her to even lift her head up.

The eagle was rushed into their treatment facility for treatment.

Veterinarians found out that the bald eagle had toxicity levels over 4 times the level that would allow an eagle to function.

Employees at the wildlife center said they took care of the bald eagle for 3 weeks until she died.

The bald eagle died on October 21, 2019.

The facility shared images of the bald eagle being nursed by the workers.

According to the Northwoods Wildlife Center, the bird was tube-fed and was only being given subcutaneous fluids.

The center shared the death of the bald eagle on their Facebook Page.

They wrote, “We were able to get her to a point where she could perch and muster small grunts of protest. Unfortunately, she was not strong enough to endure the chelation medications meant to assist her in removing lead from her system. As a family, we are devastated but feel this is such a great teachable moment.”

Bald eagles often feast on the carcasses of deer and are known for eating fishes.

The center believes that the bald eagle consumed items that had a lot of lead in them, which weakened it over time and killed it.
