“Menace To Public Safety”: Man Who Ripped Head Of Kookaburra Bird Is Fined $2,500

A man from Perth, Australia, has been fined $2,500 for ripping the head off a kookaburra, a kind of bird after it stole a chip off his plate at a pub earlier this year.

Customers and children at Parkerville Tavern were horrified in October this year after they got to witness a horrible act by Daniel Welfare.

Locals were horrified after they saw Daniel Welfare decapitate Kevin, a cheeky kookaburra, who is known for stealing food in the area.

After becoming guilty in the crime, Welfare was asked to pay $2500, which is the maximum penalty for unlawful take of fauna.

This is the first time in Perth that a person was fined the maximum amount.

The new animal cruelty laws went into effect in January this year.

The lawyer of Daniel Welfare said Kevin, the Kookaburra, was a “menace to public safety.”

When the incident happened, Daniel reportedly grabbed the bird when it swooped down and stole chips from his plate.

Michael got hold of the bird, smashed it against his plate, and ripped its head off.

According to Tania Scheulin, a witness of the incident, Michael threw the bird under the table and carried on with his dinner like “nothing happened.”

Reports suggest that children were sitting at the next table when Michael ripped the head of Kevin.

A social media comment said, “Kevin made a sound that can never be forgotten.”

The RSPCA Western Australia is still investigating the entire incident.

A statement that was released by the RSPCA Western Australia said, “Once the circumstances of the incident are fully investigated the case will be assessed, as with all other animal cruelty investigations, in accordance with RSPCA WA’s Compliance, Enforcement, and Prosecution Policy.”

It added, “As this is an ongoing investigation RSPCA WA will not comment further with respect to the details of this case.”

The lawyer of Michael said that his client was forced to leave Australia after death and rape threats were being sent out.

After killing the Kookaburra, Michael started to receive death and rape threats from women and other people.

The lawyer of Michael even issued restraining orders against 2 women, who were reportedly part of an “online vigilante” campaign against his client.

As a defense of the incident, the lawyer said the bird was dangerous for people inside the pub.

It is reported that the bird had attacked patrons at the pub before.

The lawyer of Michael said, “This particular bird I have reported about. It has attacked children. It’s injured the faces of children… this bird is – or was – a dangerous nuisance animal and the Parkerville Tavern should have done something to deal with it.”

He added, “I noticed the Police Commissioner, with the Police Minister at his side, called a press conference saying they are going to prosecute my client over the demise of a pest – a harmful, nuisance bird.”

The Parkerville Tavern made a post on Facebook after the horrible incident, they said
