Teenager Freaks Out After Finding Stray Cat She Adopted Is A Jaguarundi Puma Cub

A cute abandoned cat that was discovered by a pair of teenagers in Argentina turned out to be a Jaguarundi Wild Cub.

18-year-old Florencia Lobo, a teenager from Santa Rosa de Leales in the Tucuman Province of Argentina, found a stray cat in a cave near to the river that they were fishing in.

The teen believed the young cats lost their mother, so Florencia and her brother brought them home so they can get better care.

The siblings named the cats as Dani and Tito.

Shortly after adopting the cats, Tito died, but Dani was the strong one.

Eventually, Dani sustained a leg injury that forced him to be taken to a local vet, and upon checking the doctor broke the news.

When the vet was checking out Dani, the vet realized that Dani is a Jaguarundi Cub.

Jaguarundi Cubs are similar to pumas that are found in North and South America.

The cubs are closely related with cheetas and cougars, this makes them a wild cat and unfit for keeping inside captivity.

Florencia, the teen that saved the animal, was unable to pay for Dani’s leg surgery, so instead of throwing the cub away, she decided to call for help.

Florencia ended up contacting the Argentine Animal Rescue Foundation and told them about what happened.

Hernan Rodriguez Salazar, the president of the Argentine Animal Rescue Foundation, a non-governmental organization, helped her out.

Salazar said, “Fortunately, she called us and gave us the animal because she realized it would not be suitable for her home. We took it to a vet who works with us.”

Dani was rescued and was taken away to a protected nature reserve.

Salazar said they brought the cub to a reserve where it could get its leg recovered completely.

Florencia said she was left in shock when she found out that Dani was a wild cat.

Florencia stays in touch with the Argentine Animal Rescue Foundation so she can know the wild cat is doing well.

The teenager said she wants to visit the cub in the future.
