A 23-year-old wildlife ranger from Australia who was often known as “young Steve Irwin” was mauled to death by a shark on the first week of his dream job.

The man was reportedly killed when he was swimming with his friends.

The incident happened on April 6, 2020, at the Great Barrier Reef.

Zach Robba, the 23-year-old, was fatally attacked by a shark.

The budding Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service employee reportedly spend a day doing maintenance work on the North West Island when he and his friends went for a swim.

The small group of wildlife rangers was ahead of him and had reached the boat when the shark attacked him.

Tony Anderson, a detective senior sergeant, told reporters that the group would have witnessed the attack.

He added, “There were four people swimming off the back of a boat, cooling down after a day’s work.”

The 23-year-old reportedly sustained gruesome injuries on his leg and arm.

The man survived an emergency flight to the Gladstone hospital but died on late Monday evening.

It is still not clear what kind of shark killed the young man.
