Ugandan Imam Suspended After Police Found Out His Wife Of 2 Weeks Was Actually A Man

A 27-year-old Ugandan Imam was suspended after he discovered that his new wife was actually a man.

27-year-old Sheikh Mohammed Mutumba found out that his bride was a man when the bride was caught stealing a TV from a neighbor.

The bride was arrested and searched by the police.

The thief later admitted that he pretended to be a woman so he could marry the imam and steal his money.

The Imam has been suspended from his duties as a cleric at the Kyampisi Masjid Noor Mosque.

An official investigation has been launched.

The Imam said he hadn’t been intimate with his so-called wife since the day of the wedding.

The wife reportedly told him that she was menstruating.

In December, Mutumba married Swabullah Nabukeera in a traditional Islamic Ceremony.

The true identity of the woman was exposed when she was arrested for the theft of a television set, clothes, and other things from the neighbors.

A female police officer carried out a body search on the suspect after thinking that she was a woman.

The female police officer later found out that the woman was a man.

Mutumba said he was devastated about the finding and went on to say he needs counseling.

Friends and colleagues said they were fooled by the imposter as he usually wore a hijab.

Amisi Kibunga, who works at the mosque, said: “He had a sweet soft voice and walked like a woman.”

According to reports, the bride refused to remove her clothes when they were sleeping.

The suspect later revealed that his real name is Richard Tumushabe.

Richard said he married Mutumba in a bid to steal the money of the cleric.

Sheikh Abdul Noor Kakande, a local Muslim official, said the incident is being investigated by officials of the Mosque.

Officials said they have suspended Mutumba, an imam, for marrying the man.

Sheikh Isa Busuulwa, the head imam of the mosque, said the suspension was necessary to preserve the integrity of their faith.

Mutumba was one of the 3 imams of the local mosque and has worked at the mosque for 4 years.

Mutumba and the neighbors had not been seen for days.

It is believed that Mutumba is staying with his relatives and is receiving counseling.
