A 12-year-old girl was rescued by the authorities after a 12-year-old girl was forced to marry a 42-year-old man who already had 3 wives.

Investigations revealed that she was married to the man because he paid for her school fees.

The family of the 12-year-old girl said that her adoptive mother gave her away to the 42-year-old man, who was already married to 3 women.

The adoptive mother did this to repay him for covering school and medical bills.

The biological parents of the kid lodged a complaint with the cops in Banyuwangi, Indonesia, after learning that their daughter had been given up.

The bigamist was arrested by the police in the Silaragung Village, which is located in East Java.

The adoptive mother of the 12-year-old girl is the sister of her real mother.

Imam Ghozali, a representative of the victim and her family, said:

The victim’s biological parents do not accept the marriage. The marriage was carried out without their permission. The girl and the man have been married for four weeks. The husband is always around. As for whether or not they have consummated the marriage, we don’t know. It’s the police’s authority to investigate and carry out a medical examination.

The legal age of marriage in Indonesia is 19.

The girl was just 12 when she was given away to the 42-year-old man in a traditional wedding that is known as the nikah siri.

The family of the victim is demanding the man to be charged with violating marriage laws.

The police have questioned a number of people that were witness to the crime.

However, an official charge is yet to be registered.

The marriage ceremony was believed to have been carried out 4 weeks ago.
