West Virginia, USA: A 35-year-old prison guard has been charged with incest and 5 counts of sexual assault after he raped a girl before attending church and sexually attacking her again when he returned.

Derek Downer, who is from West Union, West Virginia admitted that he sexually assaulted the girl on 5 separate events in the span of 3 days.

The 35-year-old was charged with 5 counts of sexual assault, 5 counts of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian, and 5 counts of incest.

The West Union Police Department officers said that the man raped the girl 5 times between June 19 and June 21, 2020, at their house.

Court documents added:

The WUPD was contacted by a female regarding a possible sexual assault. The female alleged the victim was a family member of the defendant.

On June 22, 2020, investigators interviewed Downer at his house.

In a post that was made by the West Union Police Department (WUPD) on Facebook, they said:

Towner advised… that the allegations were true and Towner was arrested and charged. There may be more charges pending at a later date. He was transported to the North Central Regional Jail.

The bond of Downer is currently set at $75,000.

Downer was suspended from his role as a prison officer at the Salem Correctional Facility.

According to his page on Facebook, Downer had been employed at the site since July of 2015.

The Facebook profile of the suspect suggests that he got married in 2017.
