OPTCL Recruitment 2018: 100 Management Trainee (Electrical) Posts

Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) published a notification on 25th August notifying for the 100 Management Trainee (Electrical) vacancies that are to be filled. The selected candidates will have to undergo a training first. After training, they would have to serve the corporation for a period of three years.

Management Trainee Electrical vacancies are classified as follows:

  • Scheduled Caste: 16,
  • Scheduled Tribes: 33,
  • SEBC: 05 and
  • Unreserved: 46

Out of the above 100 vacancies, One vacancy is reserved for Sports Persons, four vacancies are reserved for Persons with Disability (PWD)  candidates and Three for Ex-Serviceman.

Required Qualifications:

  • candidate must possess a degree in Electrical Engineering/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized University / Institution with at least 60% marks in aggregate. The minimum required percentage of marks is 50% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates
  • OR Passing of Section-A&B of IE (India) in relevant discipline with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.

Age Limit: Candidate must have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not be above 32 years as on 1st August 2018. Date of birth given on the High School Certificate Examination or equivalent will only be considered. Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ ST/ SEBC/ Ex-Servicemen and Woman candidates while 10 years for PwD candidates.

Selection Procedure:

  • Candidates satisfying eligibility conditions will have to appear for the Computer Based Test.
  • Online psychometric Test of 30 Minutes would be conducted along with CBT.
  • There shall be no marking for the psychometric test but, reports of the test would be figured out at the time of interview.
  • The computer based test will comprise of multiple choice questions only.
  • A total of 200 questions will be asked from the following sections: Subject knowledge (80%), Numerical / GK & Reasoning (10%) & English Knowledge (10%).
  • No negative marking.
  • The candidate who would qualify the Computer Based Test will be called for the interview in 1:3 respective of vacancies in each category.
  • Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in CBT and interview.

Minimum qualifying marks required: Unreserved/ SEBC candidates have to score minimum 50% marks in CBT and 40% marks in personal interview. SC/ ST/ PwD candidates have to score 40% marks in CBT and 40% marks in the interview at least.
