Gautam Gambhir And Manoj Tiwary Fined 70% And 40% Of Match Fees
After the incident of Gautam Gambhir and Manoj Tiwary fight in Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Bengal, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur had mentioned and stressed that such incidents must not be repeated in the future. Thus, as a corrective measure Gambhir and Tiwary were fined 70% and 40% of their match fees. “Incidents like this should not take place in any sports. Each and every player playing the game should avoid indulging in such kind of acts.
I had a word with game officials and asked them to look into the details of the incident,” said Thakur. Gautam Gambhir had got into an altercation with Manoj Tiwary on Saturday. When Manoj Tiwary stopped the bowler and asked the teammate in the pavilion to bring his helmet. Gambhir who was fielding in the slip thought that Tiwary was wasting time unnecessarily. Thus, Gambhir got frustrated by his act and said, “Shaam ko mil Tujhe Maroonga”. Tiwary replied: “Shaam Kya Abhi Bahar Chal”.
Gambhir raised his fist onto Tiwary and thus, the verbal fight started. Meanwhile the field umpire came in between, but he was pushed by Gambhir. Manoj then shouted at Gambhir saying, “Did I tell you anything, why did you come in between.” Tiwary claims Gambhir made racist comments. Tiwary on Sunday claimed that Gambhir made racist remarks about former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and Bengalis.
“He made racist remarks made about Sourav Ganguly and Bengalis. I spoke to Sourav Ganguly and he is very upset that his name has been dragged in the matter. We will never accept anything against Sourav Ganguly,” Tiwary said. Manoj said that “I don’t mind sledging, but comments aimed at someone’s mother were not acceptable.” “Gautam Gambhir is not saying the truth. If I had done what Gambhir is saying why have I been fined 40 percent and him 70 percent.”
