Mathew Hayden Breaks A Hand Bone Of Umpire With A Pull Shot
A terrible incident took place in the Ford Ranger Cup Tournament in Australia. Mathew Hayden broke one of the field umpires hand with a powerful pull shot in a match between Queensland and Victoria. Umpire Norm McNamara, standing at square leg, suffered a suspected break when hit above the knuckle by a Hayden pull shot.
McNamara who is the Queensland school teacher had little chance of evading the bullet-like shot, stopping a certain boundary but ending his day in the middle. While the third umpire Andrew Curran was forced to replace McNamara, fellow umpire Bruce Oxenford was lucky not to have been carried off.
At the end, Hayden’s 84 off 110 balls helped his team win the match by 32 runs.
