[WATCH VIDEO] MS Dhoni Repeats 2011 World Cup Final-Winning Six In The Nets At Wankhede Stadium
If ever a compilation of MS Dhoni’s sixes is made, the one he had hit in the final of 2011 World Cup to win the title for India would unarguably sit atop of the list. The image of MS Dhoni smashing the ball into the stands at Wankhede stadium to hit the winning runs in the 2011 World Cup 2011 against Sri Lanka is still etched in the minds of one and all forever.
Whenever Dhoni hits a six, fans go crazy in the stadium and would be delighted to see Mr. Cool smashing the opponent bowlers. Yet again, the best finisher of world cricket smashed a net bowler into the orbit to show one and all who the real boss of hitting sixes is.
The former Indian captain, who is often seen enthralling fans with his giant maximums in the match, unleashed a special one during a practice session at the Wankhede stadium on Friday. The Men in Blue were sweating it out in the nets ahead of the first ODI between India and New Zealand on Sunday.
What’s surprising is Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun, also joins in to test himself against the best in business while also learn some valuable techniques from India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun. However, the official social media sites of Indian cricket team has uploaded a video of Indian players practicing.
The official Indian Cricket team Instagram handle was quick to upload the snippet of MSD smashing the big hit while riding on the analogy of the glorious incident which occurred six years back. “Some things never change. When @mahi7781 is at the Wankhede Stadium, the ball has to land in the stands like it did in 2011 World Cup final. #TeamIndia” captioned the post.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) published a few pictures and videos from the practice session, with special mention of the Dhoni hit that took everyone back to the 2011 World Cup-winning moment. “When @msdhoni hits a big one at the Wankhede Stadium, it invariably takes us back to that famous six in 2011,” tweeted the BCCI.

The Thala of Chepauk displayed briefly the Mahi of the early years is still there inside him with few massive sixes over covers and long off in the 1st ODI against Australia at Chennai. The Men in Blue, who recently defeated Australia 4-1 in the ODI series, will be looking to continue their impressive form and reclaim the No. 1 spot in ICC ODI Rankings after being dethroned by South Africa recently.

Prior to that, Mahi was on a record-breaking spree during the Sri Lankan tour with both bat and gloves also saved India a humiliating defeat against the underdogs by stitching a match-defining partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar to shepherd India towards victory.
After India’s Board President’s XI secured a 30-run victory over the Kiwis, centuries from Ross Taylor and Tom Latham powered New Zealand to 343 for 9 and inflict Board President’s XI to a 33-run defeat in the second warm-up match in Mumbai.
The Kiwis, who passed the spin-test with flying colors in the 2nd practice match, will be looking to do just the same in their opening ODI encounter with India on October 22. India now takes on New Zealand for a 3-match ODI and T20I series.
