Especially, South African team is well known and close to Indian fans in which AB De Villiers, Dale Steyn, JP Duminy and Faf Du Plessis are favorites.
The Proteas have come for a 72-day-long tour of India. Apart from the Cuttack incident who brought disrepute to the proper cricket fans’ love for the game in India, there is a lot of difference in Cricket lovers. But this incident didn’t make any change in the South African players mind, rather they have dedicated their latest episode of their ongoing ‘tour diaries’ video series to the Indian cricket fans crazy love for the game.
Faf Du Plessis and JP Duminy are featured in the video sharing their experience playing in India and in front of Indian fans. “Everywhere you go, there are people queuing up to interact with the players, take pictures, do interviews. We get to the gate two hours before the game starts and the grounds are packed. It’s phenomenal,” South African coach Russell Domingo says kicking off the video.
IPL is the tournament that made Indian fans get to know overseas players better, especially South African player AB De Villiers. Faf Du Plessis and JP Duminy said they are passionate here in India. It is great to see that Indian fans are enjoying us and also supporting us when we are playing well. “I think AB is as big as any of the Indian players in terms of the admiration that the spectators have for him,” they said.
