Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja smashed unbeaten half-centuries before India declared their second innings on 377 for five. India stamped their authority over New Zealand in first Test on Saturday as both the batsmen and spinners dominated proceedings in Kanpur. This kept the New Zealand team a daunting 434-run victory target ahead of them.

Carrying the previous day score of 159-1, India’s top order batsman failed to build on good starts against New Zealand’s three-pronged spin attack. India shined bright on the fourth day as Rahane, Rohit & Jadeja smashed with their bats.

Rahane missed his fifty but Sharma went on to complete his half-century and remained not out on 68 who gave great contribution to Jadeja on the other end. Jadeja, who scored 42 not out in the first innings and claimed five wickets with his left-arm spin, continued to have a good match by scoring 50.
