“I’m going to miss cricket matches and those celebrations with the team-mates. But I have to move on, with all those so many happy memories in my career. I am very happy to retire. “I am honored to stand in front of you and the one word that comes to my mind is that I am humbled and honored. It has been a great journey made up of wonderful memories. It is an emotional moment for me to speak here. I have been overwhelmed by the love and affection shown to me in the last 10 days after retirement” Zaheer said.

Happy that my final speech is happening at Wankhede again. Zaheer played 92 Tests and 200 ODIs for the country since 14 years. He consoled India skipper MS Dhoni, who was on the losing side and the jubilant South African team. He said, “I know it was a tough day for you MS. To AB and team, you were always tough opponents and always brought the best out of me on the field.”

I will continue my association with the game in future in some capacity, said Zaheer. Hence, Zaheer Khan was honored and felicitated by the Mumbai Cricket Association before presentation ceremony after the completion of 5th ODI in Wankhede stadium. A memento from the MCA was given in honor to Zaheer Khan by the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar in the presence of BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur and Maharashtra Cricket Association President Sharad Pawar among many others.
