Volvo Launched Its New Small SUV, 2018 Volvo XC40, Price Starts at Rs 39.90 Lakh
Volvo just launched a new small SUV 2018 Volvo XC40, with the price tag of 39.90 lakh in India. The SUV is said to be available in a single variant. The price range of the SUV is the entry point to Volvo’s SUV range. The company started taking orders with a booking amount of Rs. 5 lakh.

The latest small SUV XC40, packs the Volvo’s familiar 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel (D4) engine. Which sends 190hp and 400Nm of torque to all-four-wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The car is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless mobile phone charging, a 750-watt 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, Volvo’s 9.0-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a powered tailgate, and heated front and rear seats.
Different variants of the SUV
Currently, the car has been released in a single Variant of, the R-Design. Though currently only available in a diesel engine. The makers may offer a petrol engine as well if market demands for it. “90 per cent of customers demand a diesel engine in this segment. Hence we decided to offer only a diesel,” said Charles Frump, MD, Volvo Auto India
Safety features in Volvo XC40
The car is fully packed with an advanced level of safety kits. Like all the Volvo this SUV also comes with lane-keeping assist, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, emergency braking, ESP, traction control, hill descent control and eight airbags.
This is going to be competing against likes of Mercedes BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. The Suv is designed and marketed to attract more youthful customer as well as a new set of buyers for Volvo. Which is why it’s set in the lower end of the luxury segment. The company has high hopes from the car, as they aim to increase their sales in India. Last year in 2018 Volvo sales grew 28 per cent in India. This year the brand aims to increase its market share in India. Making it double and increase market share to 10 per cent in India.
Now, only time will tell how does this SUV do in India. Moreover, will it be able to achieve companies goals?
