11-Year-Old Boy Killed By Lightning Strike While Playing In Rain With His Friends

An 11-year-old boy died after he was hit by a lightning strike as he played with his friends in the rain, said official reports.

Juan Sebastian Brito Vega was playing in an electrical storm in the streets of San Juan del Cesar, which is located in the northeastern Colombian department of La Guajira.

He was tragically hit by a lightning strike as he played with his friends outside their house.

The youngster was left motionless on the ground after he got hit.

Locals heard about what happened and rushed him to the hospital, however, the 11-year-old boy was pronounced as dead upon arrival.

Witnesses said that it was not common for electrical storms to occur in the area.

The incident comes when Columbia implemented the COVID-19 lockdown.

It is still unclear why the 11-year-old boy broke out the rules.

Locals are investigating the case.

No other injuries were reported by the police.

The neighbors will not be allowed to attend the funeral of the boy because of the coronavirus lockdown.
