An Australian man admitted that he threw his girlfriend’s cat down a rubbish chute because he was getting jealous of the cat as his girlfriend was giving too much attention to her.

Reports suggest that the 21-year-old man abused Hibala, a 2-year-old Ragdoll Cat, on two different occasions while his girlfriend left the cat with him.

The owner of the cat got to know about Hibala’s injuries after she noticed that he went missing and found him down the chute.

The court told the defendant that he would be paying a fine and will fulfill corrective orders, which includes 3-month intense corrections.

The man was spared jail by the court due to an early guilty plea.

Hibala, the 2-year-old Ragdoll Cat, attained wounds that led to exposing his bones, have severe inflammation, and a fractured tail.

Hibala had to stay in a vet’s hospital after the veterinary had to remove a huge part of his tail so they could keep him alive.

According to the owner of Hibala, she requested a picture of her pet cat from her boyfriend when she noticed that he had a bump on his nose and asked him to take the cat to the veterinary, but the owner claims that the man refused.

After some time, a friend of the girlfriend brought the cat to a vet’s hospital so experts could give her medical help.

The vets discovered more injuries on Hibala after he was brought there.

The vets discovered that Hibala had wounds on his front left paw, fractured bones, and a number of facial injuries.

Hibala had to go through another surgery which led to keeping him in the vet’s hospital for 6 days.

During the hearing, the Magistrate of the Downing Centre Local Court told the 21-year-old Australian man: “I have no idea what to say to a person who places a cat in a garbage chute. The early guilty plea is the only thing keeping [the defendant] out of jail.”

The court also ordered the 21-year-old man to pay a fine of AUD $6000 and gave him a two-year community order along with 3 months of intensive corrections.

The Magistrate of the Downing Centre Local Court also announced that the 21-year-old man cannot buy, own, or can take care of any animal for the next 10 years.

Scott Meyers, the Chief Inspector of the New South Wales RSPCA, said, “Hurting an animal out of pure jealousy, one that belongs to and is loved by your partner no less, and letting it suffer over a prolonged period of time is a shocking display of callousness.”

2-year-old Hibala is now back with his owner and is now living in a new apartment.
