Caught On Cam: New Jersey Woman Hits Accelerator Instead Of Brakes, Drives SUV Into River

New Jersey woman accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes, which led her SUV directly plunging into the Hackensack River, the unfortunate incident happened on Tuesday afternoon.

In a post that was made on the page of the Hackensack Fire Department, they said, “Car was leaving the car wash when the incident occurred – driver hit the gas on mistake.”

They added, “The occupants of the car self-extricated to the shoreline.”

They also shared pictures of the SUV.

Engine 5, Rescue 1, Safety and Deputy 4 responded to 424 River Street in the rear for a car that went off the embankment…

Reports suggest that the SUV in the video was being driven by a 64-year-old woman who had her daughter with her.

Authorities said that both women were helped by witnesses of the incident.

According to NJ.com, the 64-year-old woman did not sustain any injuries but was brought into a hospital to make sure everything was alright.

The daughter of the 64-year-old woman declined medical assistance that was offered to them.

The SUV that plunged into the Hackensack River was removed by a towing company.
