Chinese Driver Crashes Car Into River 10 Minutes After Getting License While He Was Using His Phone

A Chinese man drove his car straight into a river just 10 minutes after passing his driving test when he was using his phone.

The river, who has been identified as Zhang, was filmed on security cameras veering off a narrow bridge with no guardrails and crashing into the water.

Zhang was busy on his phone responding to congratulatory text messages which he had received for getting his driver’s license when the accident happened.

According to reports, the incident happened on February 21, 2020, in the Chinese city of Zunying.

The Zunyi Traffic Police shared images of the crash on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform.

As they shared the images, they said the owner of the car received his license just 10 minutes before the crash happened.

Talking about the incident, Zhang said, “While I was driving, I tried to grab my phone and read some messages while two people were in front of me on the bridge.”

He added, “I became nervous and turned left suddenly.”

He continued, “I had only put on my new plate and driven for some 10 minutes when I crashed.”

The good thing is that Zhang managed to escape after kicking the car door open.

Zhang and his car were lifted out of the river with the help of a crane.

After the accident, Zhang was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors found out that he dislocated his shoulder.

The police are trying to carry out an official investigation into the incident.
