A 74-year-old woman from New York City was sucker-punched in the face by 3 teenagers after she confronted them because they were the ones that stole her purse earlier.

The incident comes amidst a violent week in the city.

Security footage, which has been dubbed as disturbing, was shared with the public to show how horrible the crime was.

The teens, who are aged between 14 and 18, knocked down the 74-year-old woman to the floor.

The incident happened in Manhattan last Thursday evening at around 7 pm.

In the video, released by the police, the woman tried to get her purse back from the teenagers. One of them punched her right away.

The suspects fled the scene and left her purse behind.

The victim sustained bruising and swelling to her face.

She also had cuts and scrapes to her hands, the unnamed elderly woman refused medical attention.

The victim was delivering food to a friend when a horrible accident happened.

She has been living in the city since 1963.

The woman told ABC7, a local news agency in New York, said that she had never experienced anything like this before.

She told the news agency that she wants to get the area cleaned up so it could become safer.

The video that was shared with the public shows 2 boys and a girl passing the woman before they grabbed her purse and punched her.

The woman chased the group and a boy turned back and punched her on the face. She got knocked out on the ground.
