An HIV-positive man was arrested by the police in Detroit, Michigan, for raping a 12-year-old girl, who he managed to track down with the help of social media.
It was reported that the pedophile used Snapchat’s “Snap Map” location feature.
The girl was reported missing from her house in Detroit, Michigan, in the USA, by worried parents on Wednesday.
She went missing on August 19, 2020.
The parents told the authorities that their daughter had not been seen since 11:30 am that morning and were concerned because she had been chatting to an older man through social media.
The police located the 12-year-old girl at around 5 pm that day.
The girl told the police that she was on her way to meet her boyfriend, who she claims she met when she was just 11 years old.
The girl claimed that she had been having regular sex with the man who told her that he was 19.
Anthony Alvin Hodges, the attacker, is 35.
The police have established that the girl and the pedophile had been having sex for weeks.
Hodges has since been arrested and charged with 4 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13, 2 counts of engaging in intercourse with the intent of inflicting an uninformed partner, and 1 count of being a habitual offender.
During an interview with the press, Detective James Thorburn said:
It’s our belief and our understanding at this point that he found her due to the location sharing ability of Snapchat; that’s how he was able to pinpoint her home. These platforms allow for interaction between people that normally would never have interaction – they’d never come in contact with each other. We very well believe that there are other victims out there. He’s had other allegations against him in the past and I would find it hard to believe there aren’t other victims out there.
Earlier this year, the pedophile was sentenced to serve 2 years in jail for attempting to infect a sexual partner with HIV in 2016.
The pedophile is currently in the Oakland County Jail and is being held there without bail.
