Kenyan Man That Was Declared Dead Wakes Up And Starts To Scream After Staff Cut Open His Leg To Drain Blood
I don’t sleep because sleep is the cousin of death.
A Kenyan man that was thought to be dead woke up and started to scream after the staff cut open his leg so his blood could be drained.
32-year-old Peter Kigen woke up when the staff of the mortuary sliced open his leg.
Because of the pain, he regained consciousness and started to scream again.
The man from Kenya was pronounced dead 4 hours before that day.
The man collapsed with what was believed to be a stomach ailment and was rushed to a hospital.
The brother of Kigen said that the nurse informed the family that he had passed away long before he got to the hospital.
The brother told the local news agencies:
The nurse later handed me a document to take to the mortuary attendant before my brother’s body was moved to the morgue.
4 hours after Kigen was pronounced dead, the staff at a mortuary were p[repairing to drain the blood out of his body and when they started the embalming process, they realized that he was still alive.
Denis Langat, the uncle of Kigen, regained consciousness because of the pain that he felt when the staff of the mortuary made an incision on his leg.
The brother of Kigen added:
The mortician called me into the morgue, and we saw him make movements. We were shocked. We could not understand how they could move a person who is still alive into the mortuary.
Kigen was interviewed by the local press after the news went viral locally.
During the interview from his hospital bed, Kigen said:
I cannot believe what just happened. How did they establish that I was dead? I did not even know where I was when I regained consciousness, but I thank God for sparing my life. I will serve him for the rest of my life.
The staff of the hospital had their own explanation.
Dr. Gilbert Cheruiyot, the medical chief of the hospital, said that the family did not wait for the death certificate of the man.
The family reportedly moved Kigen to the mortuary on their own.
He said that the doctors were treating other patients when Kigen was brought to them.
Dr. Cheruiyot said:
They asked Kigen’s relatives to give them some time, but they accused the clinicians of taking too much time and decided to take him to the mortuary. It was while the mortician was getting ready to embalm his body that she noticed some signs of life. The patient was later taken to the ward and is responding well to treatment. We hope to discharge him in a few days.
The doctor said that families should listen to the doctors and should know how to follow the correct protocol.
Dr. Cheruiyot said:
Before a body is moved the mortuary, it has to be certified by a clinician. In Kigen’s case, we can only say he was lucky, especially because of our qualified mortician who checked him before making any move.
The good thing is that the man is alive and is expected to recover.
It is still not known if an official investigation will be launched in the incident.
