A Texas woman is currently recovering at an intensive care unit from burns all over her body after she says a bottle of hand sanitizer exploded.

Kate Wise, the mother, said that she was lighting a candle when the horrible incident happened.

While in the hospital, Wise said that she had put some hand sanitizer on her hands-on Sunday before she tried to light a candle at their house.

According to the description of a GoFundMe campaign that was started by the best friend of Wise, the woman burned her hand and face.

It is said that the bottle of disinfectant exploded like a bomb after it made contact with the fire from the candle.

During an interview with the local press, Wise said:

Because of the hand sanitizer, it just lit my whole … everywhere I had hand sanitizer on my hand, it just lit my hand with fire.

Wise suffered second and third-degree burns to portions of her body including her entire hands, legs, feet, and face.

Talking about the pain, Wise, a mother of 3 kids, she said that it is something like she cannot explain.

Wise, who is a single mother, managed to throw the burning clothes off of her body while her 2 youngest daughters ran to the neighbors for help.

Despite her severe injuries, Wise was able to carry her 14-year-old daughter, who is disabled, and their dog out of the house.

Because of the fire, the mother ended up losing almost all her furniture.

After Wise gets released from the hospital, she will be required to find a new house for her family.

Wise is currently trying to raise awareness about the incident that happened and help other people prevent such things.
