A picture of a newborn baby boy holding his mother’s failed contraceptive coil is viral on the internet.

Birth is something that will happen if you are destined to be blessed of it.

The mother of the newborn, who is 34 years old, who already has 2 other kids, had an IUD (Intrauterine Device) inserted 2 years ago.

However, the coil did not do its job and she did become pregnant.

She gave birth at the Hai Phong International Hospital, which is located in Hai Phong, Vietnam.

During the birth, the IUD came out along with the baby, who subsequently gripped it in his hand.

Tran Viet Phuong, an obstetrician at the hospital, noticed the IUD and took an image of it.

The image was then shared on the social media accounts of the hospital.

Phuong said:

After delivery, I thought him holding the device was interesting, so I took a picture. I never thought it would receive so much attention.

Coils are a contraceptive device that prevents sperm to fertilize a woman’s eggs by releasing copper or hormones after being inserted into the uterus.

Phuong believes that the IUD of the mother may have been dislodged from the original position, which made it ineffective.

The doctors at the hospital said that the newborn baby was born healthy and weighed at 7lbs during birth.
