Pensioner Who Was Jailed For Playing Classical Music Too Loud Dies Aged 83
A pensioner that was placed in prison for playing classic music too loudly has passed away at the age of 83 years old.
Ian Trainer, who is from Aintree, Merseyside, was given a 24-week prison on February 6, 2020, for breaching a restraining order.
He was locked up once again after he continued to breach the order upon his release.
The order was issued last year and it said that he could not play any audio at a volume that is above normal talking level.
He was banned to do such a thing between the hours of 9 am and 10 pm.
A number of neighbors registered complaints against the elderly man, but he did not stop.
A Ministry of Justice confirmed the horrible news.
A Prison Service spokesperson released a statement about the death of Trainer.
The statement reads:
HMP Liverpool prisoner Ian Trainer died in hospital on 23 November. The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has been informed.
The spokesperson did not confirm the cause of the Trainer’s death.
What Happened?
In December of last year, the police came to the house of Trainer after a noise complaint was registered by a neighbor.
The neighbor said that the man had been emitting loud music from his house for years.
When authorities arrested him for breaching a condition of his restraining order, Trainer told the officers that he wanted to play music at a level that he enjoys.
The man argued in court in February this year that he was unwell and could only hear in one ear.
He also told the court that the steroids he was taking for his medications made headphones too uncomfortable to wear.
The Neighbor
Thomas Thompson, the neighbor, said in the court that this happened on a daily basis.
Thompson added:
It’s not just one day of the week, it’s every day of the week. I go out early morning and stay out until late afternoon to avoid the noise. It’s just unbelievable at times.
After some time, Trainer, the elderly man, returned to the courtroom and pointed to his ankles and said that they could put the ball and chain on him.
Sentence That He Received
He was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison and was ordered to pay £600 in court costs and a further victim surcharge to Mr. Thompson of £122.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Trainer, may his soul rest in peace.
