In a picture that was taken in September 1943, a man can be seen peering down at something in his hands, which many people are claiming to be a smartphone.

However, the big problem is that the picture was taken nearly 80 years ago, which brings us to the conclusion that the person who was holding the phone and the person that took the pic might be gone already.

If you ask us, we probably think it’s a time traveler.

On Twitter, Stuart Humphryes, a social media user, shared a picture along with the caption: “British war workers escape to the seaside – this Cornish beach was photographed in September 1943. (It would be lovely if one of you were able to identify which beach!)”

Stuart, by the way, is a multimedia artist that is known for colorizing BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who.

However, no one answered his question.

Why? Well when you look closely, you can see a man wearing a brown suit looking at a device, which many people believe is a mobile phone.

A social media user who saw the picture said: “Er…is it just me or is this guy checking his phone…in the 1950s?”

A second user-added, “Good catch. It’s clearly the man in the shot is a time-traveling tourist checking his mobile device.”

A second user said, “Finally, the evidence we need that time travel is real.”

A fourth user said, “We now see things in old photos that we missed before but now we know they’re phones now that we have them.”

However, Stuart Humphryes, the man that shared the picture, has an explanation of the man in the picture.

Stuart said, “I think he’s rolling a cigarette.”
