A woman has been arrested in Mexico for butchering a pregnant 17-year-old girl and removing the baby from her womb before taking the baby to the hospital saying that he was her son.

The Playa del Carmen police found that burned remains of the 17-year-old girl, who had been 7 months pregnant, inside a bag.

Her body was found on May 30, 2020.

The Quintana Roo prosecutor’s office named the alleged killer only as Juanita and did not name the victim.

Authorities said that the woman invited the pregnant teenager to her house, which is located in Solidaridad, where she held her captive.

The woman allegedly bashed the teenager’s head with a stone before stabbing her to death.

She also cut the baby from her belly.

Not only that, but the woman also showed up at a local hospital saying that the baby boy had belonged to her.

Authorities stabilized the premature baby, who is currently in critical condition.

Local media reports claim that Juanita killed the 17-year-old girl because she is infertile and was afraid that her husband would abandon her if she failed to provide her family with their first child.

Authorities have reportedly charged Juanita with homicide.

If convicted, she could spend up to 50 years in a Mexican jail.
