A source told the news site she converted from Islam to the Catholic Church after listening to a number of Christian broadcasts on the radio.

The alleged attack took place at the house of her aunt in Nawuyo Village, which is located in the Mbale District.

That evening she decided to call a friend of her father’s who was a Roman Catholic to discuss the religion.

Talking about the incident, she said:

She explained to me about Christ and the way of salvation, and I got convicted and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. As she was sharing Christ with me, I was so overjoyed, and my father heard my joy and woke up, came from his bedroom furiously, and started beating me up with blows, slaps and kicks.

The young woman and her father were said to be staying with the aunt on the other side of the country.

The pair had to stay longer due to the COVID-19 restrictions in the country.

According to reports, on the 11th day of the Islamic holiday Ramadan, Husain allegedly became enraged and told his sister he was going to kill his daughter because she wanted to convert.

During the attack, the aunt came in to protect her niece and rushed her to a hospital.

She used a taxi with the help of a neighbor.
