A dumb burglar was arrested by the authorities after he accidentally left behind a bag that had his name and address on it.

The dumb get dumber and the rich get richer.

43-year-old Malcolm Pyke, the robber that we are talking about, broke into a garage in East Herrington, Sunderland.

He stole £150 of cleaning equipment on 6 March 2019, and left behind something that would help the authorities arrest him right away.

As he was making his way out of the garage, he accidentally left behind a bag that contained letters that bore his name and address.

Well, wrong move Pyke, the wrong move.

The authorities used the information that they had gotten and made their way to his house.

The stolen equipment was recovered by the authorities out in the open.

Chris Raper-Smith, a Detective Sergeant, released a statement about the hilarious incident.

The statement that they released reads:

Malcolm Pyke is a prolific thief who has consistently proven a disregard for the law and the welfare of others. Unfortunately for him, his latest offence which was fairly unsophisticated saw him leave behind a number of personal items which directed officers straight to his front door.

The stolen equipment was returned to the owner of the garage, who wanted to remain anonymous for privacy concerns.

The burglar ended up getting jailed for 4 years for the crimes that he had committed on that day.
