Talvar Movie Story:

Shruti Tandon(Ayesha Parveen) is the 14-year old daughter of Ramesh (Neeraj Kabi) and Nutan(Konkona Sen Sharma). On the night of 15th March 2008, Shruti is found dead in her bed. The 45-year old home servant Hemraj is also found dead on the terrace of their house. Police suspect Ramesh and Nutan as the suspects and hand over the case to Ashwin Kumar (Irrfan Khan) CDI detective. After investigation and transferring the case from one court to another, The Tendons are convicted for the double murders on 26 November 2013.

This being the event based storyline, Director Meghna Gulzar made this crime case into an intriguing Thriller and a Masterful dialect of mistakes that are in the Indian Judiciary System.

Talvar is a fictional dramatization of true life events revolving around the Arushi Talwar murder case investigation. Known as the Noida Double Murder Case, which happened in the city adjoining India’s capital Delhi, in 2008. The incident still resonates in the minds of the public, as there is no sense of closure in the case in spite of a guilty verdict – the parents of the murdered girl have been sentenced to life for killing her.

Excellent performances by Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Neeraj Kabi, it also has Tabu in a special appearance. With Gulzar’s lyrics, Vishal Bharadwaj’s music and cinematography by Pankaj Kumar, the thriller is a work of fiction which is based on one of the most intriguing and talked about murder cases in recent Indian history.

Hats off to Gulzar and Bharadwaj for their digging and making a documentary thriller, a genre that is largely unexplored in Indian mainstream cinema.
