Did Bhansali Edit Out Intimate Scenes Between Alauddin Khilji And Malik Kafur From The Movie?

Yesteryear’s most awaited ‘Padmaavat’ has finally made it to the big screens and doing good in front of Box Office. The journey of this Bhansali’s directorial from being ‘Padmavati’ to Padmaavat revealed the layers of religious and communal ordeals in India.

Well, to all those people who recklessly denied the release fearing the insensitivity in the movie, Bhansali answered them in 3D. Garnering the rave reviews from every corner of the country, we can say that Bhansali’s cast didn’t fail to impress us at any instance.

Coming to the storyline, the whole movie is based on an excerpt of Rajput’s era. So, there is no way to expect twists. When the story has no prominence, it is the screenplay that steals the show. Bhansali did a good job, he delivered the utmost work from his side and just like he does in every movie, he once again presented us a larger than life show.

Due to Karni Sena protests and their demands regarding few scenes, the director agreed to delete those scenes and thus, the movie got released with the name of Padmaavat. Alauddin is the bull-head of the reel and real story. However, if we dig further, there are certain instances in history that say otherwise.

Khilji and Malik Kafur

There are many things that the director didn’t show us due to Karni Sena’s demands. It is said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali also deleted few scenes between Alauddin Khilji and Malik Kafur. The most interesting part of the villain is the hinted bisexuality. Certain historians have said that the emperor was bisexual and one of his male lovers was his Afghan slave, Malik Kafur.

Jim Sarbh played the role in the movie. The movie, however, didn’t go all out on this aspect of their relationship, though it gave us enough playful hints that there is something going on between these two. Kafur was openly obsessed with Khilji, but the latter just relishes on his affections but doesn’t let get in the bed.

Khilji

In a recent media interaction, Ranveer Singh hinted that many scenes from the movie have been cut, that deserves to be a part of Director’s Cut of Padmaavat. When asked about playing the role of Khilji, he said, “Jim Sarbh had called me and complained that so many scenes have been cut. I told him this happens (in Bollywood). Whatever you want to do, do it fast or it will get cut. Six to seven hours of footage gets shot, but the movie is made just for two and a half hours.”

When a reporter asked if intimate scenes have been cut from the movie, Ranveer laughed and replied “Yes”, before asking the journalist if she found Jim hot. Since this happened before the official media interaction started, we are not sure if Ranveer was just making a joke or was there some truth in what he said.

Though nothing explicit is shown in the bathtub scene, many do have a feeling that something more had happened between the two than what was depicted on screen. Did the director get cold feet over these scenes? What do you say?
