Jacqueline Fernandez Accepts Padman Challenge, Netizens Brutally Trolled Her
Akshay Kumar, a popular Bollywood face has made a couple of biopics that already garnered enough critical acclaim and credits for his versatility in acting. His latest movie ‘Padman’ is an addition to it. It is all about the establishment of sanitary pads used by women. His efforts in bringing such sensible movie must be well appreciated.
Padman is a biographical social-drama film. It is based on a short story in Twinkle Khanna’s book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad and is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu.
The story is all about a social activist who revolutionized the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. Padman revolves around the story of Arunachalam who invented low-cost sanitary pads. Now, as the release date of Padman is approaching soon, the actor thought of starting a challenge and promote the movie uniquely.
In this regard, Padman Challenge took off and it is one of the trending topics on social media today. Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social entrepreneur who invented the machine for manufacturing low-cost sanitary pads, initiated a #PadManchallenge on social media.
It is now trendy on social media with many Bollywood stars promoting the movie. Breaking the taboo that menstruation holds in India, Sri Lanka beauty Jacqueline Fernandez also joined the party. Deepika, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Mouni Roy, Ekta Kapoor, Karan Patel and most recently Ranveer Singh through his video promoted the movie.
Now, Jacqueline also posted a picture of her posing with a pad on her Instagram account. She uploaded the picture with the caption, “10% of girls in India think menstruation is a disease. 14% suffer from menstrual infections. All the best team. R Balki this is an amazing initiative!! I nominate all those girls who want to make a difference in this world!! Promote the pad!!!”
But something went wrong with her post and netizens were disturbed with it. The actress wrote something on the pad with red lipstick which people considered to be wastage of pad. Although a few appreciated her move, there were many who backlashed at her.
Before Jacqueline, Twinkle Khanna also faced opposition for posting her picture holding a pad. Where one of her followers had said, “This is an epic example of how celebrities can do anything to promote their Film. Where were you, ma’am? Why this so-called awareness only before your own produced movie? Hypocrisy at its best form.” However, Mrs. Akshay Kumar very perfectly replied to the harsh comment:
In 2015 I started writing about menstruation in my columns, 2016 I wrote about @murugaofficial in my book and 2018 I am producing Pad Man -just to bring the timeline into perspective for people who look for the negative in every initiative! #PadManTalks https://t.co/U4BDpPjDfS

However, celebrities getting trolled for their posts is not a new thing, but we think they should take care while posting pictures or any statements. Whereas, the netizens also should have a broad perspective before judging them or probably shouldn’t judge.
