For the last few months, the news of Aamir doing Rakesh Sharma’s biopic has been doing the rounds everywhere. Reportedly, the movie was titled ‘Salute’ and Priyanka Chopra was being considered to play Aamir’s on-screen wife. Well, we have got some bad news for our readers.

Now, it has been learned that ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ has left the film. And the reason being cited is Aamir Khan’s creative differences with the film’s crew. Salute is the directorial debut of Mahesh Mathai. DNA has quoted a source close to the film as saying, “There were some points of disagreement between him and the creative team.”

Some say that Aamir has taken this decision to work on a franchise, other reports suggest that he had creative differences with the director. Either way, it looks like Aamir is not doing the biopic.

Aamir Khan is currently working on Thugs of Hindustan and he is the kind of actor who takes only one project at a time. So we were surprised when he signed on to be the lead in Salute, the biopic made on the former astronaut Rakesh Sharma. Rakesh Sharma is the first Indian astronaut to walk in space.

Naturally, Aamir Khan fans were excited about the news and knowing the actor’s utmost dedication in prepping himself up for the role, we were also enthused by him signing this project.

It is said that Aamir Khan was not happy some parts of the screenplay and wanted these portions to be changed. His demands were shot down by the creative team, following which he reportedly decided he doesn’t want to be a part of this movie. There is also a report that Aamir Khan wants to dedicate the next ten years of his life to building up a franchise based on a movie he is doing, most probably Thugs of Hindostan.

Now, latest reports suggest that the makers have approached Shah Rukh to play the lead role in the film, but there isn’t any confirmation on it yet. Aamir was last seen as an unruly pop singer in Secret Superstar that released on Diwali alongside Golmaal Returns. It failed to put the box office on fire, unlike Aamir previous film Dangal.

A report states close to the project have revealed that the makers wanted a big name to play the lead, and Shah Rukh Khan fitted the bill. Even Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh’s names were considered for the role. In the planning stage, the film was scheduled to hit the screens on the Independence Day, 2018.

This is not the first time that Shah Rukh Khan has replaced Aamir Khan in a movie. In the early ’90s, Aamir Khan was first offered the negative role of Rahul in Darr by Yash Chopra. But the actor was not happy with his experience of working with the late director in his previous movie, Parampara, so he passed it on.
